We have a new addition to the DCC. Every Thursday we will be posting a song of the week. The song will be a song that reminds us of swimmers, or swimming in general. Each part of KNR will pick our favorite lines from the song and a little blurb about why we chose it.
We’re starting off with "I'm a Go Getta" by Weezy. The song is dedicated to Michael Phelps, so you can obviously figure out why we’re fans of it.

Renae's Favorite Line:
"I'm allergic to cheatin’ and I hate failure and I'm in love with achievement above and beneath it a hug when I greet it my eyes on the prize”

Reason (the short version): the whole song is amazing but this part seems very relevant to WCs last week, how MP stayed in his LZR and how he handled the victory in the 100 fly.

Nicole’s Favorite Line:
“You can’t harm me mentally not physically not spiritually, you’ll never get rid of me, I am the epitome of this is what you did to me, nothings what you did to me, nothings what you give to me, I take whatever I’m visualizing, now break all of the limiting, now shake all of the gimmicking, the fakery the trickery”

Reason (the shortest version I can type that explains it all): the comments that Milorad Cavic made to Michael through the press over the last year relating to the 100m Fly result in Beijing, and more recently the suits. They gathered in intensity in Rome, and Michael only ever responded with “The talking is done in the pool”. Michael has always said that he welcomes “trash talking” because it motivates him rather than worries him, but at the end of the day, no one can say that he only won that race because he was motivated by Cavic’s comments, he wanted that win, so he took it.

Kimmie’s Favorite Line:
“Nothin's what you give to me, I take whatever I'm visualizing, now break all of the limiting, now shake all of the gimmicking, the fakery the trickery, nurse how sick is he, worse I'm sickening, I'll be at the finish line first, how quick is he, I'm a make sure they mention me for the next century…”

Michael Fred has never limited himself. When you set limits you are confined to those boundaries and it really stunts you from reaching your full potential. Seeing Michael break Crocker’s WR in Indianapolis, one that he has been working hard at for nearly five years is indescribable. A month later I still cannot describe it in just the right words. He came into Trials having taken SIX months off, the longest he has ever gone without training and SMASHED the competition. He knows how to play into the mental games of racing and never lets it overtake him. Hence the reason why we will be talking about him as little old ladies in our retirement homes…. He really is EPIC.
