After the EPIC day that Renae had in which she was able to "meet" MP, the ladies of the DCC decided to take a trip down memory lane. We were in our respective locations but all three of us were watching the same youtube videos (shameless youtube plug inserted here). Although we had all seen the races live back in 2004, seeing them again just brought back all the memories.

We found ourselves anxious to see how the race was going to end and even though we knew the outcome, it was still as exciting as watching the first time. Seeing the emotion on MP's face when he was on the medal stand for the first time EVER, had tears flowing down our cheeks. Seeing Phlochte in their very first Olympic race together was totally EPIC. Seeing the birth of Phlochte definitely brought tears. TOTAL SAPS!

Watching as Vendt leaped over the lane lines to congratulate MP on his win was amazing and full of tears. They went 1 – 2 like they had wanted. Watching and reliving the Olympics of Athens 2004 made us wish we could all relive it again. That was the birth of our love for swimming... Sure, we watched in 2000, and fell in love with that 15 year old making history then, but this was more than a bunch of pre-teens falling in love with the cute boy on television. This was a group of young ladies falling in love with something much more. Something much larger.

This was a group of young ladies falling in love with a sport. SWIMMING. That love still exists and that's why it was so emotional for us to relive Athens. We remember the race that made us fall in love: 400IM. Of course, MP would swim in it. lol.

Many people say swimming isn't a real sport but we beg to differ, it has the makings of every element that any other sport has. Lead Changes, Upsets, Blowouts and of course CHAMPIONS. That's why we love it and will continue to love it. Athens was special to many Olympic athletes for what they accomplished there but it is also special to some fans, like us, who will forever remember it and love to relive it.

400IM- What can we say? BB won his FIRST GOLD MEDAL! It has been four, FOUR years since this happened and we can't watch it without tearing up... okay, sobbing like babies!

4X200- Can we give mad props to Kletus? For serious... how does it feel to be served a nice big plate of IN-YOUR-FUCKING-FACE-AUSSIES?! JEAHHHH!

Since Reezy left Octagon we can no longer enjoy his EPIC blogs from swimroom.com with Weezy lyrics, so we leave with this:

"Love, live life, proceed, progress..."

CHEAHHHHHH.

Here are some of the results from short course...

200IM:
Final A- Reezy aka Ryan Lochte's time was 1.40.89 TAKING FIRST! He held the lead from 15M out.
2nd-Eric Shanteau- 142.59

Final B- Alex Vanderkaay took 4th w/ 1.47.05 (500Y Free- Baby VDK came in 6th w/ 4.23.60)

Lochte is lookin good... However we must comment on the Ed Hardy shirt he was wearing earlier in the day... for serious Lochte? There are no words, except WHYYYYYYY? We can't even begin to say how wrong that is...

He's only been back training for 10 days and has put on some weight since Beijing but he's still got it... can't wait to see his times once he is training hard. We were excited to hear he's going to be training in Australia for 3 weeks in January.

Lochte swam about 2 minutes after the 200IM in the 50 Free against Grevers.

In Final A- Our friendly giant out touched Lochte w/ a time of 18.95 taking first. Lochte came in @ 19.39 placing 7th.

In Final B- Garret Weber Gale came in 4th w/ 19.87.

4X100 Relay- Grevers led the race and his team came in 1st! Time of 3.07.03- SMASHING the competition w/ a body length lead!!!!! YAY!!!! DO WORK SON!
